Project Short Description:
The 110 KV Transmission Line from Pashmul District, Kandahar Province, to the Kandahar East Substation and Kandahar Breshna Kot Substation is one of the most technically challenging transmission projects undertaken in the region. The project involves the construction of a transmission line across difficult terrain, urban areas utilizing 220 KV monopole towers, and a complex U-connection configuration to meet the operational and routing requirements of the power network. The project required careful engineering, detailed planning, and precise execution to ensure compliance with technical standards while minimizing the impact on existing infrastructure and communities.
The transmission line provides a vital connection between the Kajaki Hydropower Plant and the Kandahar East and Kandahar Breshna Kot substations, enabling Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) to maximize the utilization of the renewable energy generated by the Kajaki Power Station. By strengthening the regional transmission network, the project enhances the reliability, stability, and operational flexibility of the power system while reducing transmission constraints.
Upon completion, the project will significantly improve the quality and continuity of electricity supply throughout Kandahar Province. It will provide a reliable source of power during the high-demand summer season, when electricity consumption increases substantially due to extreme temperatures, while also ensuring dependable service throughout the winter months. The improved power supply will enhance the quality of life for residential consumers, support commercial and industrial activities, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region. The successful completion of this project will represent another major milestone for DABS in its ongoing efforts to strengthen Afghanistan's power infrastructure and provide reliable, sustainable, and efficient electricity services to the people of Kandahar.
